Clinical Supervisor
The Clinical Supervisor is a responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager or Director in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating services of the unit. It is expected that the CS manages and coordinates the unit, directs and supervises caregivers, functions and activities, interprets policies/procedures/protocols, standards, and regulations as appropriate. CSs scope of responsibility spans all aspects of nursing care. The CS maintains clinical competence and certifications to assist the unit when required
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Clinical Supervisors employed prior to 1/1/17 who have not obtained a Bachelors Degree in Nursing are required to obtain BSN within three years from 1/1/17
Unencumbered RN license in state of hire, and wherever care is delivered
If RN holds a multi-state license through the Nurse Licensure Compact , the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state of hire
Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider card must be from the following authorized governing bodies:
American Heart Association ,
American Red Cross , - or-
Military Training Network upon hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be from AHA or MTN.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be from AHA or MTN.
ANCC recognized speciality required or within one year of hire. For clinical supervisors hired prior to February 16, 2022 who have obtained an AACN recognized speciality certification, must obtain withiin one year from 2/16/2022.
One year of recent clinical experience in an acute care hospital in specialty area
One year of Charge Nurse/Relief Charge Nurse experience
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
Proven leadership ability and hospital operational expertise
Mentoring/coaching ability
Able to serve as a role model and advocate for the professional discipline of nursing
Strong knowledge base or experience in specialty areas assigned
Special patient care equipment, to include Safe Patient Handling equipment, as specified by the assigned nursing unit.
Telephone, paging, and fax and other communication technologies.
Clinical and administrative information systems
Preferred qualifications:
Master's Degree in Nursing
Shared Governance experience
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and electronic communication
