Job Description :

The Sr SQL Database Administrator is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of database management and production support related to business intelligence SQL Server platform.

The Sr SQL DBA works closely with the information technology and reporting & analytics teams to administer and maintain the development, QA, and production environments while providing critical issue support and solutioning within the SQL production platform. Responsibilities :

Responsible for day-to-day management of company's SQL database environment.

Provides thought out contributions to company's data strategy roadmap and business case by analyzing the current environment and making recommendations for improvement.

Manages product support including proactive monitoring and corrective maintenance on failed jobs. Responsible for root cause analysis and resolution including being available to review alerts on the weekend.

Provides daily written KPI health checks and ongoing/emergency maintenance updates to key internal stakeholders through professional notifications and the use of change management processes when required.

Executes performance tuning, space optimization, patch installation, re-build, and code migration tasks.

Performs database analysis and design tasks ensuring that the databases meet desired performance levels.

Ensures system availability and recovery working closely with IT system administration team to confirm proper backups are in place.

Works with information security to ensure adherence to security protocols.

Creates and maintains database maintenance procedures, standards, procedures, and a data dictionary.

Establishes appropriate quality, financial and security controls on data resources to assure effective and efficient use of information technology.

Assures cost-effective systems support for the company's business operations. Skills & Qualifications :
Education and/or Experience

Computer science degree or equivalent experience and training.

7+ years experience as a DBA of Microsoft SQL Server database environments

3+ years experience with the development of Microsoft SQL solutions, SSIS/SSRS and T-SQL

Familiarity with Visual Studio, Redgate and Wherescape is preferred

Experience with Oracle and Linux databases is helpful
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Expert knowledge of a SQL database environment including monitoring, patching, performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, backup & restoration, and integrity checks.

Proven SQL database programming experience including queries, stored procedures, etc.

Strong analytical skills and ability to diagnose and resolve SQL performance issues in a complex environment.

Proficient in technical documentation development including the ability to develop application run/support instructions, recovery instructions, and other complex operational documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance to standards.

Experience with data conversions and systems migrations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce high-quality deliverables.

Technical development knowledge is preferred.

Non-traditional and weekend availability is required. A flexible work schedule will be considered.
