BLS Certification
Ability to read and write
Oral communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors and staff
Ability to maintain courteous, tactful relationships with visitors, patients, nursing and medical staff and other departments

Must be able to safely lift 25 lbs. Must always follow Safe Patient Handling guidelines
Must see well enough-to read charts and gauges; speak well enough to communicate over on the telephone and hear well enough to take vital signs
Must be familiar with policies and procedures that are related to the responsibilities within their job description of the position. They will not be responsible for development of such policies; however, input is encouraged
Interacts with Charge Nurse and staff nurses to communicate regarding aspects of patient care within their job description
Follow direction provided by nursing staff
Interacts with other members of the health care team
Responsible for keeping accurate records of intake; output and vital signs when directed to do so by nursing staff
Reports any unusual finding and changes in patient's condition to the nursing staff
Expected to realize the limit of their position and to notify nursing staff whenever assistance or clarification is needed
Ability to cross train and float as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Recent clinical rotation in Medical-Surgical ICU
Letters of Recommendation from Manager/Supervisor or Professors
Special Requirements
Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients and stand on feet over extended periods.
Ability to work overtime as defined by the collective bargaining agreements; floats to other areas; and work weekends, holidays and on call as required.
May work up to 1 year of not more than 1,000 hours. This is a 43% limited position
Must be available to work a minimum of one 12-hour shift per week. May work additional hours in increments of at least 4 hours.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
