This role, reporting to the Senior UX Director Chapter Lead: Design Strategy & Design Practice will set the stage for the evolution of user experience in financial services. The UX Director: Design System & Design Engineering will work as part of the User Experience Studios leadership team within the Enterprise Experience Division to create best in class digital experiences. The ideal candidate should have design experience and possess superior UX/UI technology skills. The position will manage a team of designers and developers that contribute to creating and aligning user experience across a variety of platforms and devices for Citizens. This individual will help solve complex problems to improve the teams development. You will play a strategic role creating the vision, designing, and continuously expanding the Citizens Design System
We are looking for an experienced design and technology leader with a passion for good design who will help to continuously improve the teams organization process, culture, collaboration, management and communication of our work. In this role, you will drive and work with other leaders to identify, prioritize, and evangelize strategic opportunities to improve execution and processes. The successful candidate has a background in leading design and/or software teams and has the hands-on experience to be a player coach enabling the team to build exemplary customer experiences.
Green Pixel Studios colleagues are charged with devoting dedicated time to pursuing innovation and delivering UX/UI expertise to the bank in its digital projects. This role with the studio team will support the Enterprise, including the Consumer Bank, Commercial Bank, and colleague facing departments across web and native mobile technology stacks.
Responsibilities
Own the strategy/design/partnership of their design system between product management, engineering and other groups.
Mentoring, motivating, coaching, and managing UX design & engineering colleagues to achieve defined goals and measurements of success
Being accountable for the performance, quality control, and the results of a group of UX practitioners including design & engineering expertise
Will play a major part in the look and feel of interactive user interfaces across multiple products and platforms, via helping to define robust design guidelines and libraries that can be leveraged across the enterprise
Helping identify any issues impeding the UX talent and recommending plans of action to remediate
Coach and expand a team of UX practitioners that work in an agile environment supporting upskilling and common experience standards across ways of working
Ability to build a UX design & engineering talent pipeline
Ability to coach development and standards across multiple software engineering disciplines to support consistent implementation of visual design in code
Collaborate with internal and external partners to conceptualize ideas and implement solutions across all digital touch points
Motivate, inspire, and influence others in the organization to engage with UX engineering best practices and alignment to the Citizens brand
Provide thought leadership on incorporating evolved standards and best practices in producing software at scale
Build relationships with your product and engineering partners to evangelize the power of our design vision and further embed it across the organization.
Ability to present and articulate concepts, ideas, and solutions to executive leadership, including but not limited to technical architecture, process, and/or financial measurement
Writing simple, clear, and helpful documentation suited for a diverse audience of varying skill levels and experience areas
Being accountable for measurement of team throughput and/or impact of completed projects: identifying appropriate metrics for quantifying value and providing a direct correlation to ROI on investment supporting resources
Leading a team of dedicated designers & developers in story writing, sprint planning, and other agile ceremonies to drive the throughput of work for both an enabling design system platform and design engineering assistance for workstreams
Explore new technologies through research and applied innovation
Explain how a solution meets user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
Define and document best practices for UI deliverables and process
Advocate for the end-user
Qualifications
10+ years in design with some mix of front-end development
3+ years in team management
Bachelors Degree in a relevant field or comparable work experience with a Bachelors in Art, Design or other field
Expertise in native mobile or web development
Knowledge of the latest UI/UX prototyping tools, trends and best practices
Experience with multiple development frameworks and shared libraries
Strong prioritization skills and ability to quickly re-prioritize in a dynamic environment, manage multiple projects at the same level of detail
Expertise with the software development lifecycle and agile frameworks
Understanding of technical platforms and concepts
Experience with accessibility and ADA compliance
Positive, proactive and helpful attitude
Expertise with project management tools such as JIRA and Confluence
Expert listening, organization, and communication skills
Passion and appreciation for art and design
Hours & Work Schedule
Hours per Week: 40
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday
