Our Bodies Ourselves Today seeks a creative and dynamic individual to serve as a part-time Writer & Content Developer. This position is responsible for writing and editing unique and creative content for the OBOS Today website, creating engaging social media posts and growing OBOS Todays social platforms.

About Our Bodies Ourselves Today

Our Bodies Ourselves Today is building a world-class online platform to provide up-to-date, trustworthy, and inclusive information about health and sexuality for women, girls, and gender-expansive people. Based at Suffolk University in Boston, Our Bodies Ourselves Today is realizing an ambitious vision to expand and extend the galvanizing knowledge of the bible of womens health, Our Bodies, Ourselves.

Diverse experts will curate current evidence-based information, along with content-specific personal narratives, all in an intersectional feminist context. We are committed to addressing the needs and voicing the perspectives of women, girls, and gender-expansive people across inequalities including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, age, ability, nationality, legal and immigration status, gender, and belief.

Our Bodies Ourselves Today will launch in May 2022 focusing on nine subject areas: abortion and contraception; gender-based violence; growing older; heart health; menstrual cycle and menopause; mental health; pregnancy and childbirth; sexual anatomy; and sexuality.

Job Description

The Writer and Content Developer will be responsible for writing and editing original content for publication on the OBOS Today website and newsletter and writing engaging, public-facing social media posts.

  • Write and edit unique and original content across digital platforms and spaces for OBOS Today, including:
  • Website and newsletter content;
  • Monthly blurbs on core subject areas;
  • Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other online platforms.
  • Help design and implement a creative and strategic social media plan to build awareness for the OBOS Today platform.

    Qualifications

  • Strong writing, editing, digital production, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, reproductive health, reproductive justice and feminist approaches to healthcare and sexuality
  • Proficiency in reproductive justice communications, including inclusive language
  • Some familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Ability to conceptualize and create engaging content on our social media platforms including graphic design and image creation, scriptwriting, caption writing, and videography
  • Demonstrated experience in crafting social media strategy, building audiences and effective strategies in interacting with different communities online
  • Working knowledge of at least one graphic design platform

    Location

    Applicants are welcome to work remotely, although working in person in the Boston office is also possible. Regardless of location, hours will be flexible and negotiated.
