JOB SUMMARY

Oversee and coordinate installation of new PCs for an annual refresh. Provide IT technical support to all City users as assigned, responding to and prioritizing desktop support tickets. Escalate level 2 desktop support tickets to the Sr. Desktop Support Specialist.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Receives, installs and configures new IT equipment. This includes imaging new computers, testing and configuring mobile devices and MDTs for first emergency service departments.
  • Performs installation and/or troubles hooting of software, peripherals, PC's and other IT provided equipment for the entire City.
  • Assist with end-user asset inventory management and auditing by department and prepare retired/damaged items for annual disposal.
  • Maintains desktops for all locations by completing software updates as needed.
  • Ensure all PCs have appropriate security/anti-virus installed and troubleshoot associated application failures, escalating as needed.
  • Assist end users with issues and completing assigned service requests. This includes calls, tickets, walk ins, off-site support and interdepartmental requests.

    Assists the Desktop Support Supervisor and other IT personnel where needed.

    Escalate level 3 desktop support tickets to Desktop Support Supervisor.

  • Perform specific desktop support duties including mobile device management, application configuration, security monitoring and remediation as well as basic AV support.
  • Provides IT assistance for EOC room when required including emergencies/crisis as determined by fire chief.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience:

    High School Diploma or GED. Working knowledge of the latest Microsoft operating systems; gained through continuing education programs equivalent to that gained from completion of 1 year of college, 2 years prior experience or a combination of both.

    CompTIA A+ required or comparable certificate as determined by the supervisor. months of employment or attainment of position as a condition of continued employment. If the certification expires, becomes obsolete, or ceased to be offered by the certification authority then you are required to achieve a new or higher qualifying certification within one year of expiration.)


    Special Requirements:

    Preferred Certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Operating System Fundamentals. Valid Texas Drivers license. Must pass a drug screen and doctors physical exam.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

    Knowledge of the latest Microsoft operating systems

  • Knowledge of latest Microsoft operating systems, generally familiar with Microsoft Office products and standard equipment platforms.
  • Skill in diagnosing and troubleshooting computers and applications sufficient to determine if problems are a result of hardware, software or a system configuration
  • Ability to assemble standard components including computer, monitor, printer, mouse, modem, and multimedia, network cards, keyboards, and other peripherals into a functioning unit with proper cable management.

    Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

    Ability to perform normal software installation tasks.

  • Ability to perform tasks necessary to manage and update end user networked equipment as needed .



    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The work is medium and requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, crouching, feeling, fingering, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
