Job Description Summary

The Machinist is responsible for producing machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating machinery; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Duties

Work independently in selecting tooling needs and required speeds for each set up

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments

May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout and machining procedures

Ability to cross train and operate an Electrical Discharge Machine

Ability to read a caliper, micrometer, tape measure & indicator

Check steel harness on Rockwell/Hardness Tester

Engage in team 5S projects

Ability to read blueprints

Run manual mills and lathes equipments

Fabricate tool and dies

Run surface grinder

Qualifications

Requirements/Education/Experience

College or technical school education preferred, but not required

OSHA certifications a plus, but not required

Heat treat is a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements

Lifting up to 40 lbs.

Intermittent bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, walking, and squatting

Standing for long periods of time
