The RN provides skilled professional nursing care to the client as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with regulations as established by the Michigan State Board of Registered Nursing, the client, and the policies of the Organization. The Nurse cares for clients in their homes. Nurses might see a patient for short visits or spend eight to twelve hour shifts with a client. Home health care enables clients who are permanently disabled, or who are suffering from extended illnesses, even lifelong or terminal illnesses, to remain at home. The RN may need to treat a variety of clients. Client ages may range from children to the elderly who are coping with chronic illness. Clients may have serious ailments, such as cancer, or be victims of a serious injury as the result of an accident. They may be recovering or dying. As a result, home health nurses must be able to cope with each individual situation, administering the proper treatment and compassion.
